Methods of Treatment

Cognitive strategies are employed to probe for problematic thinking styles and attitudes that often contribute to unpleasant feelings and self-defeating behaviors.

Behavioral strategies such as autogenic training, systematic desensitization, hypnosis, graded flooding, extinction, and relaxation training are used to manage a variety of behavioral and physiological problems.

Biofeedback procedures are also available for handling stress-related psychophysiological disorders dealing with cardiac, gastrointestinal, dermatological, musculature, neurological, stress and anxiety, and vascular problems.

Neurofeedback is a non-invasive, non-drug treatment that trains the brain to develop healthier and more balanced brainwave patterns. These healthier brainwave patterns have been found to be associated with a reduction of the symptoms of ADD/ADHD. In addition, ongoing research indicates that neurofeedback may be a promising treatment for a wide variety of other disorders such as anxiety, depression, brain injury, cognitive dysfunction, and insomnia.

Virtual Reality Therapy is a new, state-of-the art, powerful technique used to overcome fears and phobias. This method creates a visual, auditory, and sensory environment that psychologically exposes you to your fear, whether it be flying in an airplane, speaking in front of a large group of people, or driving on the highway.

Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFTs) are relationship specialists who help people achieve more satisfying and productive relationships. LMFTs are trained to assess, diagnose and treat individuals, couples, children, adolescents, families and groups who are having difficulties with interpersonal relationships and/or difficulties with mental and emotional disorders.

Sport and Performance Psychology is the study of mental and psychological processes during sport and performance. It is primarily concerned with the enhancement of performance in athletes and persons who perform as singers or musicians, as well as coaches, teachers and executives/managers.
